The cultural document I decided to chose was a music video called, "Dime que te Paso" by Wisin and Yandel. I chose this video because in a way I can connect to it. I have family members, including my own brother, who are in the army. The music video is basically about a guy who is enlisted in the army and goes off to war, having to leave his wife and new born daughter. When he goes off to war he experiences many things that changes his personality and the way he interacts with his wife. Later on, he has to go back to war having to leave his wife and daughter again, but before he leaves he has a huge fight with his wife. At the end, when the wife is getting ready to leave to work, she gets a knock at the door and there is a guy from the army who hands her a folded American flag (which signifies that her husband died). I have noticed that lately in the past couple of moths/years there have been many music videos with the same sort of theme. I think it demonstrates the solidarity that there is among society (showing respect and admiration) towards the people who risk their lives in the war. Also, I think that these videos help people see how going to war changes not only the soldier, but the family too. They show how the war not only affects an individual but a whole nation too. And like this video the stories of these soldiers don't always have a happy ending.
