The social document I chose was that of the music video "Pork and Beans" by the popular band Weezer. I chose this video, because you wanted us to choose some video that provides social documentation - and this video goes one further. It is a video that documents other videos from you-tube and other places on the internet that provided social documentary, and that where widely popularized, and thus represent current Internet culture. The reason I find this video particularly significant is because it is the first documentation I(at least) have ever seen that celebrates Internet culture at this level. Art expresses some facet of the human experience. That the subject of this art piece was You-tube culture find very significant. Internet culture has finally become an integral and widely experienced enough facet of human culture to be expressed as art in popular culture - an this is not art by some internet blogger - this is not a sub group expressing their particular little world. This video is a professionally produced music video by a popular, widely publicized band. You tubing must seen a social phenomena that exist over many social groups, and rightly so - you can find people of every group imaginable, race, age, interest on you-tube. We are truly at a new point in Human culture. This video celebrates the "settlers" entrepreneuring on this new frontier - The Internet.
