CRASH

The cultural document I chose to examine is a movie titled “Crash”. The movie chronicles stories that link whites, blacks, Latinos, Koreans, Iranians, cops and criminals, the rich and the poor, the powerful and powerless, all defined in one way or another by racism. It also illustrates multiple themes of Iris Marion Young’s Five Faces of Oppression. Specific examples include marginalization, powerlessness, and violence. This all happens over a (2) day period in Los Angeles. I think the purpose of the movie was to have all groups in our society to consider that we all share the same fears and hopes and that we all share only (1) group: HUMAN.
