Jon & Kate Plus 8

“Jon and Kate Plus 8”

I know this might sound a little crazy but I chose to talk about the “Jon and Kate Plus 8” reality TV show. For some reason reality TV shows in America turned to be THE THING these days. . My choice it might not be such a strong example of a cultural document but I think it reflect in some ways the typical American family; a wife how doesn’t work but needs a lot of nannies to help raise and educate her children, a father who rather go in vacations with different women because the family he created and has home is to stressful for him, the children who experience their parents divorce, and they are old enough to feel the father’s abandonment and the mother’s despair.

I don’t mind reality TV shows, but what makes the “Jon and Kate Plus 8” different then others is the presents and the involvement of their children. I thing this is a clear case of exploitation. If the “…Plus 8” was not in the picture, I mean the children, the show “Jon and Kate Plus 8” would never existed. The parents along with the reality TV producers are using these children for the ultimate purpose of making money. Isn’t this a case of exploitation?

Another thing I think is funny about this is the fact that you can find information about them on wikipedia :
