CR 1

Dear Matthew Webber,

I salute you for what you are doing in the war. I have a friend close to my heart over in Afghanistan right now fighting for the same war as you. I don’t know what it’s like to be over there but I know what it’s like to be here, back at home. Three other people who are very important to me are in the army and can be deployed at any time which frightens me. I know that it would be for a good cause to go over there and fight but it scares me.

I’d say that I’m tough but not tough enough to go and fight. You are a hero to me; you and everyone else over there fighting for us and for the people that don’t have a voice. You are fighting for the oppressed, the people who aren’t respected, and the people who are judged. You are fighting for everyone who wishes they had the courage to.

The people you are fighting could be the people you are fighting for. They are just defending the country like you are defending yours. I’m all for helping the smaller or the weaker people who can’t help themselves. But is this war helping or hurting these people? I feel that these people could use the help of the U.S. but how much help can we give them? We can’t govern their country for them. All we can do is give them a little push.

Don’t get me wrong though. I’m behind the soldiers all the way and pray that they all get out o.k. and that all of the deceased are in a better place. I just wish that we didn’t have to take as many lives as we have taken and vice versa. I feel everyone who is over there now has given so much to the cause and I thank you guys everyday. You all are heroes and are inspirations too many of us here back home. You fight for people you don’t even know and you take that with pride.

Thank you,

Vicky Sievers
