Oral History

I interviewed a nineteen year old boy. His name is Sean Peterson. He lives in Chicago.

What do you do with your time?
I am currently employed at Portillos as a cashier and I am a full-time student at Northeastern.

What do you do for fun?
I hang out with friends, play bass (by myself or in my band), and eat.

Do you ever feel marginalized in society?
Sometimes, when I'm working at Portillos I can tell people think I am stupid or incompotent because I happen to be a cashier, and nothing else to them.

Do you feel a sense of powerlessness working there?
Sometimes, when the managers talk down to me as if I don't know what I'm doing, I feel powerless because I can't talk back to them because I don't want to lose my job.

What career do you plan on going into after you graduate college?
I am studdying to be an accountant. I plan on getting my CPA and working at an accounting firm.

How do you like going to school at Northeastern?
I like it a lot. I am a transfer student, I used to go to Northern Illinios and I like it here much better.
