I am interviewing my back door neighbor nnamed Mickey Humphalot. She is 26years old and of Guatemalan decent ;lives with her parents.

WHERE WERE YOU BORN?
*In Norwegian Hospital by Humboldt Park, also known as Humboldt Heights as of now.

WHERE DO YOU CURRENTLY LIVE?
*By Fullerton and Albany, I've been living here for about 7 years now. I used to live by Pulaski and Argyle when I was younger until like 7 or 8.
WOULD YOU SAY THAT THERE WAS A BIG TRANSITION FROM WHERE YOU USED TO LIVE TO WHERE YOU ARE CURRENTLY LOCATED?
* Yeah, I guess you can say that because its mostly an Indian and white community over there by Pulaski. Around here (Fullerton and Kimball), I see nothing but Hispanics and African Americans. But don't get me wrong though, there are a lot of, if I should say- "white people" moving around here because of the condominiums being built.
WOULD YOU SAY IT IS A GOOD THING THAT THE COMMUNITY IS BECOMING HIGHER POPULATED WITH WHITE PEOPLE?
* Yes, and No. Yes, because even though I do not have any children, I know it would somewhat be more safe for kids to play in the front or back yard without their parents being worried about their child being kidnapped, shot or have anything bad happen. The community would be a lot more clean that's for sure!(Laughs).
No, because I personally believe that condo's and tall buildings ruin the community; it breaks the diversity or multiculturalism because now not everyone can afford to live in the neighborhood. I used to have a good friend of mine who lived right down the block from Division and Wolcott. He was this little Puerto Rican boy that I always hanging with. To me, his family were all "ghetto" people that were always yelling and just being straight up loud. You would always see people hanging out inside or outside of his house. I remember his older brothers would always have thier friends over. One time they somehow opened up the pump and saved our lives 'cuz man was it hot that day! Now, when I go around there, its very quiet; everyone keeps to themselves you know? Its like now all the parents are afraid of letting their child play with the kid across the street or something.- I dont know, if you ask me its a bad idea. I dont think its worth killing the soul of a community over a bigger garage.
WOULD YOU AGREE WITH SOMEONE WHO SAYS THAT CONDOMINIUMS SAVES A COMMUNITY BECAUSE IT LOWERS THE CRIME RATE?
*Hell Na!! Every day there are murders, stick-ups and robberies in the most least expected places! -and what I mean by least expected, I mean a higher class, more suburban area. In a way its not "our" fault that we stand out from the rest. I think there are just as many white inmates as there are hispanic. People commit crimes because they choose to or because of personal problems, not becuase of thier skin tone. One just doesnt go crazy over seeing too many blacks or too many whites.
DO YOU THINK THE CHANCES OF SURVIVAL IN SOCIETY(ECONOMNY-WISE) IS AT A HIGHER OR LOWER RATE IN THE COMMUNITY YOU LIVE IN?
* Actually, I can not fully answer this question because I believe it is up to a person whether or not to succeed in life. Yeah, a more "tougher" community makes it harder on an individual to focus on thier education or goals but it should never stop anyone from accomplishing what they have to do if theyre really serious.
WHERE WOULD YOU PREFERABLY RAISE YOUR CHILDREN OR FAMILY?
*Umm. You can say that life would probably be more simpler if I lived in a white community but at the same time it would be too vague. I want my kids to have a lot of the same experiences and fun that I had back in the day!
