So, I realized in my 11 o'clock class that we should thank Ursula Bielski in the form of a letter. We can post the letter online and also give her a hard copy. To collect sentences for the letter, I've decided that we should simply use the "Comments" section of this post. So, please write a line or two for her in the comments, by next Monday or so, and I'll compile them in a nice letter on NEIU stationery.

I constantly read your book Chicago Haunts when I was in 8th grade, so seeing you was unreal to me. I'm glad that i got the opportunity to meet you, and hear about the way you view history and document it.
ReplyDeleteI must say that you were not really what I was expecting, which was a pleasant surprise. The way you presented yourself and your writing has opened my eyes to a different kind of history that isn't taught in the books of our schools. I've always been interested in Chicago's history and it seems like you bring it to life in a different and more exciting way. I, as we all do in our class, thank you very much for taking time in teaching us something new.
ReplyDeleteThank you for coming to speak with us. I thought it was very interesting how you take someone's ghost experience and bring out more from them than just the experience. The history you collect shows us more about people, their ethnic backgrounds, and how this experience means something to them then normal history could ever show us. Thank you very much.
ReplyDeleteI never thought of History the way you have presented it to us. It sure is more interesting and exciting to study history your way rather than how we are usually taught.
