On January 20, 2009, Barack Obama broke a barrier that was long overdue by becoming the first African-American president this country has had as its leader. He has shown that as a country, we can take action and bring change to situations that we know must be improved. Not just that, but his election has also illustrated the progression that this county has made on the road to equality.
